Solomon's prayer,

As I read the Bible, and study it, I am learning so many things. In 1Kings, after all is finished on the temple, and all else that Solomon had built. He called all of Israel together and then, he prayed.

1kg8:22And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven:

The prayer that he prayed was beautiful. And by reading that prayer, I learned so much about the heart of Solomon. How he loved his people. How he prayed for God's mercy and grace, not for himself, but for all Israel. Solomon was not only wise, he was a man that cared deeply for his people.

I even learned in that prayer of Solomon's , the reason why, even in this day that the Jews turn toward Jerusalem to pray. Why the Jews that are in Jerusalem put prayers written on paper in the wall. Solomon asked God , He prayers in these verses.
1ki 8:29
That thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.
1ki 8:30
And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive.

We learn so much when we pick up the word of God to read and study. I hope each one of you will pick up your Bibles and read from the word of God. May it bless you greatly, as it has me.

Until next time God bless. and remember, John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Telling tells

Have you ever known one of those people that if you told something to, you knew it would get told all over the place? Well believe it or not they can make good friends. Just so long as you don't tell them anything you don't want told. But!, if you want people to know something, and you don't feel like making umpteen phone calls, then that's when you can use your over talkative friend. And if you will notice these friends they never talk about themselves, nor their family. They just ask you one plying question after another.

The thing is, I don't feel any bad feelings toward them. In fact I feel sorry for them. Most people know what kind of person they are. I pray for them to realise for themselves what kind of person they are.

I think we all have been guilty one time or another, of telling tells. Going from one person to another with gossip. I know I am guilty, and I really am sorry for doing it.

It's time we all stop telling tells. Instead why don't we go about telling the good news of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? Yes why don't we do that?

Until next time God bless, and remember this. The mouth is the most destructive tool a person can use. Lets use it for good.

A great example

I talked to Preacher Donald Harris on the phone yesterday. It was real nice to hear from him, and to find out that He and Betty have a new church. I have such respect for the two of them. They are just down to earth people, spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to his church members, and whoever else will listen.
I've had a lot of respect for the two of them ever since I first stepped foot in Antioch Baptist Church. They are the ones that gave me the push, and the confidence I needed to be able to teach Bible study classes at the nursing home. I never thought I was good enough, nor socially acceptable, to do such a thing. Preacher Harris taught me it had nothing to do with social standing. It had to do with how I stood in the sight of God.
To my opinion the church hasn't been the same since they left. It doesn't seem like home anymore. In fact I feel like a stranger every time I walk in the doors now. It's sad but true.
Betty Harris is such a sweet person. She never failed to speak to everyone in the church. And whatever she said to you she meant. She truely does care about people. there's not a fake bone in her body. We truely need more people in our churches that have the love for others in their hearts that these two people do.
Preacher if you and Betty should read this. Here's saying to both of you. Thank you so much for helping Willard and me to grow. While some may try to push us back down, we will stand strong in the Lord. You two were such good examples for Willard and me to follow.
OK people, Until next time, God bless . And ask yourself this question. What kind of example am I?

Will darkness defeat you?

I was watching a documentary on TV yesterday. It was about the Midwestern states, in the 1930s, during the dust bowl years. There are many available web sites to learn more about it. This is just one. http://www.livinghistoryfarm.org/farminginthe30s/water_02.html

I could not imagine myself being in such a terrible situation as those people were. People who lived almost ten years, daily facing death and starvation. Those people knew what tough times were. I cried as I watched story after story of those that had loss small children to illness from living daily breathing and eating dust. How some gave up and left everything they had worked years for, all taken by the black dust. Hopelessness causing them to load whatever they could take with them, and leave for better places such as California. There were others who were truly tough, that stuck it out, year by year hoping and praying things would get better.

You know, I don't know why God lets these, and other bad things happen. Even in today's world we have many people that have lost loved ones, and everything they have, to one of the many disasters that has happened these last few months and years. People who's faith in God, can take a lot of hardships and still stand strong. One man in Haiti lost his whole family. He doesn't know whether his children are dead or alive. But instead of letting himself give up and do nothing, he's working in an orphanage, helping other children find their parents. What great people there are. Back in the dust bowl era, and here in 2010. strong, God fearing people that can weather the storms of life, and stand to bring praise to God in Heaven. People who confess proudly that it was God who brought them through it all.

And my friend, there are those that complain because they have to work late. my, oh my.

I praise God for what He has left me, and I thank Him for showing me , what I lost wasn't important anyway. Praise God.

Until next time, God bless . And do this, look around you. Isn't God good?

I can't make corn bread

The first person that tried to teach me how to fix corn bread was my Grandmother Moore. Grandmother Moore made the best biscuits in the world, and taught me how to make them. And if I must say, I make some fantastic biscuits. But I hated corn bread and decided since I didn't care for the taste, I didn't need to know how to make it. Now Willard loves a good cake of corn bread, and his Aunt Naomi use to make it every day. And the funny part is in my old age I myself have taken a liking to it. I watched Naomi many times as she mixed the corn meal with just the right consistency of water that she wanted. I watched as she set the gas burner on just the right height. I remember thinking sometimes that the burner wasn't even on, until upon closer inspection, seeing a very small flame. The corn bread cooking very slowly.
Now let me tell you, I have wasted more corn meal than I'd like admitting to, trying to make corn bread. And sometimes, I do luck up and end up with some that is eatable. But I haven't perfected it yet. Don't laugh, but I've been trying for a few years now. I just haven't matched my grandmother's nor Naomi's gift for knowing just how to make it. But I keep trying.
Until next time God bless.

An understanding heart

1 Kings 3:9. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
This was Solomon's prayer as he prayed. Solomon could have prayed for most anything, but instead he prayed a righteous prayer. God granted his prayer.
1kings 3:12
Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
Plus gave him much more.
1kings 3:13
And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.

What we pray for is important to us, but is it something that will help others, or just ourselves? I am just as guilty as anyone else when it comes to praying for self. Oh don't get me wrong, I do pray for other people too. If someone ask me to pray for them I most assuredly do. But to be honest, most of my prayers are for self and family. I will start today to remember others in my prayer life whether they ask me or not, I will pray for this country more. God knows we all need to pray for it. And too I will make a list and pray daily for people that I know need all the prayers they can get. I know many that have cancer or some other kind of life treating illness. They need my prayers every time I go to the lord in prayer.
I hope that you to will join me in a renewed pray life.
And may God give us all, a wise and understanding heart.

Have a blessed day and God bless

Oh by the way, feel free to comment on any of my post. I'd love to hear your point of view.

God's will for us.

Pictured the city of Hebron.
I was reading in 1st Kings when David had gotten old and was unable to Reign as king. When Adonijah, Solomon's oldest brother asserted himself as the next king, and without talking anything over with his father, David. And may I say without asking God. preceded secretly to take the Kingdom instead of God's chosen, which was Solomon. Nathan had heard of Adonijah's declaration of announcing himself king, and the sacrifices that were in process of the celebration on his crowning, and went to Bath-sheba with the news. Nathan instructed Bath-sheba, what to do. He used himself as a witness, in that he came unto king David while Bath-sheba was still speaking to him. Of course King David ordered Solomon to be crowned immediately, stopping abruptly Adonijah's plans. Solomon let his older brother live as long as he showed he was no more treat to him. But Adonijah just could not yet give up without one more devious try. He asked Bath-sheba to intervene for him with Solomon to marry his father's last mistress. Solomon was no fool. He knew that if that were to happen that Adonijah could bring up cause to be the king. Adonijah bought about his owe death by his desire to be something that God didn't want him to be.
I think that we all try to do things and be someone without first going to the Lord and asking Him. God has already given us all the tools we need, to do what He wants us to do. All we have to do is find out what God wants from us. Ask yourself, What does ""God''''want me to do?
Untill next time God bless.

Getting old does not mean getting dumber

Have you ever noticed the older a person gets, the more they show their personality. Some get meaner acting, while some get sweeter more gentle acting. I wish I were one of the ones that was getting sweeter. But I'm afraid the older I get the less I want to take off people. I have noticed that people will try to walk all over you, if you let them. People seem to think older people don't understand things, as much as younger people, so they talk down to us. I had a woman say to me the other day, Ms Glover you just don't understand. I knew exactly what she was saying, and it was wrong. I said back at her , in a very unpleasant voice, ''Oh, but I do understand, and if you would hush and listen to me, so would you''. I think I got her attention once she realized that I was not going to set back and be cheated.

I bring this up because I want to express to all you younger people out there, We older folks may not move as fast as we use to. We may not talk as eloquent as we use to. We may not hear as well as we use to. But most of us have minds that can out think most younger people, hands down. We may take longer doing it however. At lease we know what 7x9 is without using some hand held device.

God bless, and remember to show us older people, the same respect you show to the rest of the world. and remember you're be this old one day, God willing.

Let us pray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Obama needs Jesus in his life. Because it's really clear to me, and it's my firm opinion, Obama is no Christian. I mean gees, Obama has let muslin's have prayer at the capital, and yet done away with the Christian pray day. How obvious can it get? How in the world can a Christian nation fall in such decay so fast. We took prayer out of schools, and look what happened. School children killing each other on a daily basic. gang warfare all over every cities, spilling over in the rural areas with unstoppable force. And now the goverment takes prayer day away. I believe that soon there will be a bill voted on that will cease prayer in public completely. That day ''will'' come my friend! Because we don't have enough real, born again Christians that will stand up for Jesus any more. There are too many ''say so Christians'' that really don't care, because they have not received real salvation. They don't have any real desire to spread the word of God. Their desire is looking good to their peers. It's so very sad.
1cor 3:10
According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
Mr. Obama take heed, God is watching what you build, and what you tear down. Mr. Obama stop the tearing down of our Christian nation. Jesus is Lord of all, and you, Mr. Obama will answer to Him one day.
May God bless us all, and remember you can only serve one master.

Let it go free

I read somewhere today a person say (((( If you love something, and are dumb enough to let it go..you didn't deserve it in the first place)))). I really think this person meant someone. I'm so glad I don't feel that way. To my opinion when you hold on to ''''something'''', too tight as to not give it room to grow, you are smothering it.

I have been very guilty of that many time myself. If you love someone enough, you care about their feeling and happiness before you our.

1st Cor 13: starting verse 4.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Love is all these and more. letting something you love go. Yes if it wants to be free.

God bless, and remember Jesus first loved us, He loved us enough to set us free with a will of our own, and then died on the cross because of our sinful free will to sin.

Some men just don't get it.

Some men have taken the Scriptures and used them to suit themselves. That's just my opinion, but I'm stinking to it. The scripture truly tells us wives to submit ourselves to our husbands.
Eph 5:22
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Eph 5:23

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Eph 5:24

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
And before you ask, Yes I agree 100% with this. The only thing is that some men stop there. Some men, 'thank goodness not all' use these verses to dominate and control their wives. But let's take a look where these men stop reading.
Eph 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Eph 5:26

That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Eph 5:27

That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Eph 5:28

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

So Christ gave everything He had to the church. Christ didn't hold anything back from the Church, He gave His very life for it. Christ didn't set back and ask the Church to be servant to Him. He treated the Church as a precious jewel. Christ never put a burden on the Church. In fact Christ say (For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.)
I hope that one of those men will read this and maybe have a different view about how they treat their wife. I can only hope. As for me I've got a wonderful, God serving Christian man. who shows me respect. And I do submit myself to him. I know when he says something that it's for the good of the marriage and not just himself. Sometimes I may not agree with him, But I have learned that he's got a good head on his shoulders. Because most times when I have disagreed, as the events unfold, He was spot on , and I ended up so thankful that I listened to him.

So wives submit yourselves to your husbands. And husbands love your wives and treat them in a way that you know Christ wanted you to.

God bless. and remember respect goes both ways.

What happened?

Having five sons, which neither one ever listens to any advice that I may give. Nor do any of them actually need me for anything. I thought today how I once use to be the smartest, bravest person in their world. The one that showed them how to do things such as tie their shoes, helped them write their name for the first time. I was always there to answer the hundreds of questions they would ask daily. I remember thinking one time if I hear one more question, I'll scream. Funny how I would so enjoy it now if just one of them would ask me my opinion on something. Of course those times are long past. I use to be the one that scared all the monsters away that were under the bed, or in dark places. Yes, I was once their hero. Now I'm just the mom that's getting old and gray haired. Now their hero's are football players, car racers or whatever. Those were precious times. I didn't realize then just how precious they were.

To all parents out there with young toddlers. Don't take a second with them for granted. They grow up so fast and before you know it, they will be teens, and then adults, on their own.

Love them with all your hearts and hug them often.

And by all means, start just as soon as you can to teach them about the Lord. Make God part of your everyday conversations with them.

God bless, and happy parenting.

Bones found

I watched TV yesterday as they showed "what they said" were bones from a woman and child that were at lease a million years old that were found in South Africa. The skull "they said" was of a new species of human. Half ape and human. It would seem they have found that missing link they have been looking for, that is "IF" you believe it, which I don't. I looked at a skull that looked like any other ape skull I'd seen before, except for the teeth. They most likely have found apes with mutations, I don't know! But if my faith is strong, and praise God, it is. I simply don't believe that we come from anything other than the creation of God Almighty. For if I would let these foolish thoughts that things just happened, and there was no intelligent design enter my mind, then what would life be? There would be no meaning to anything without the presents of God.
The end of time is at hand, and old satan is pulling out all his tricks to turn our faith into nothingness. But I stand in faith and believe that God Almighty created all. And satan, In the name of Christ Jesus,You can just get behind me.......

God bless, and remember, The word of God is a truth that we can rely on.

Who we think we are

Who we think we are, is often not at all who we really are. I think more than anything else we see who we'd like to be. I once had a friend of mine whom was well educated, tell me this quote. It went something like this. ''You're not who you think you are, You're not who others think you are, But you're who you think others think you are"". Now mind you I had a lot of trouble letting that sink in my brain and understanding it. But when we have personal weaknesses, we often think others can see right through us. Our self portrait in fact is blurred. We think we understand ourselves, but the real us is still hiding behind the same blurred vision to see ourselves only as we want to see ourselves.

Let me give you an example. These two men are real persons, both elderly, and this is my view of both people. There's a business in town that I frequent. This business has many employees. There are two men that I guess you could say work the front, where they are in contact with the public. I do want to bring to your attention that both men claim to be Christians and go to church.

Now man #1. we'll call him smiley, He's always got a smile on his face. Always has a nice word to say. But he never mentions being a Christian 'persay'. He always tries to please the customers, and poor old guy, he hurries the best he can. The last words he will say to you is"have a blessed day" He's the type of person that just makes you feel good, if you know what I mean. But he never thinks of himself too highly, He's just a good old soul.

OK, so on to #2 man we'll call him, not so smiley. Ok, so he's like this, smileless, he tells all about his church, his Christian life. While ignoring your request not to overfill your bags. He's always telling everyone that any tips he gets will be donated to the church. He goes sooooooo, slooooow, as if saying I really don't care whether I get this done or not. And because I complained to him about how he filled my bags, he holds the grudge, like nobodies business. OK, so he thinks of himself and a good person, and in fact brags on himself as a Christian.

You see smiley, doesn't see himself as that great a person, while not so smiley thinks himself tops.

I really do NOT want to know what people really think of me, I have way too many flaws. There's only one man who was born on this earth who was perfect. Jesus Christ. The rest of us are mishaps from the first Adam's sin. We all have sinned, we all do things we don't want others to know about. There is no perfect human person. Most times, truly, I think I'm at the bottom of the apple barren, well rotted while others smell the obfensive fumes.

God bless and remember, Whatever you may think of yourself, God knows the real you.

Grocery store still up to tricks

I really need to start taking my camera to the grocery store. Why you may ask? You wouldn't believe what they're doing now. OK, so I was looking for a cabbage to make some slaw with. Today hot hogs and Hamburgers, tomorrow, fish. I make enough slaw at one time for both.

So I walk myself to the produce section, and started looking at the cabbages. It was the oddest thing, the smaller heads of cabbage seemed not to have a stark. Looking more closer I noticed what the personal had done. It seems as if they were taking some of the leafs off of the larger cabbages and wrapping the smaller ones with those dark green leafs that most people discard. Now I ask you is this good business? I mean there are families out there that are having a hard enough time feeding their families without some manager of a grocery wanting a bigger bonus check. I really wish that some one in the government in whatever department, The FDA, I think, would would step in and start putting a big fine on these stores.

Hoping for better, God bless.

Jesus, All over the old testament

It still gets to me when people say"The Old Testament of the Bible doesn't apply to our life as a Christian". The Bible ''the whole Bible'' was written to show God, God's people, and the history of God's promises to all people. Jesus is all over the old testament. Again and again God made His promise of a Messiah. But I want to just bring one or two passages to your attention today. Take a look in 2ND Samuel, Chapter 7, and verses 17-19. Nathan the prophet had a message from God to David about the building of the temple.
2Sam. 7:17According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.
God is not going to let David build His temple, but God tells David through his seed that there will come a man that will build an ever lasting temple.
2Sam. 7:18
Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
David, realizing that the Messiah is meant, David ask the question that most shows his understanding of just how small mankind is compares to God, "Who am I". I think that when we consider just how awesome God is, We too ask that question many times.
Now, David remembering the words written in Scripture in Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Ask the question in the following verse' Is this the matter of man. In other words, is the the matter of Adam? Is this the second Adam that will bruise the serpents head. 2Sam. 7:19 And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?
Nathan must have said much more to David in these prophesies. In fact David seems to have been permitted to have more than just a glimpse into the future. As he writes so many, many Psalms of Jesus. especially the ones of the Crucifixion. In Psalm, 22, for one, David writes the exact words that Christ Jesus would say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? You really need to read the whole Psalm. It, 's David's words explaining what he was allowed to see in the future. There are many Psalms David wrote about Christ Jesus' life and His death on the Cross.
So back again to Genesis. This is Easter Monday, and I want to remind all, that the old serpents head was bruised. The first Adam failed. He sinned, and by that we are all born in sin. But the second Adam, Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior, lived a life of righteousness. He won the battle over sin while alive, and He defeated it as He looked upon us as He hung on the cross and gave Himself, the perfect sacrifice, pure and holy. And as He arose from that death, He stepped on that serpents head and bruised him. That serpent has no control over us, over our lives, nor over our deaths, nor over our eternity. Jesus is our way back to the Heavenly Father. And all you have to do is except Him as our Lord and Savior. It seems so easy doesn't it? Jesus said in Matthew, 11: 30 My yoke is easy, and my burden is light. And dear one, it's so very true. Please think about it, and come to know Jesus, He's waiting.

The cause that made us Christains 'It's still the "Cross"

The whole cause as to why we are Christians is being celebrated this week end. From Good Friday till Easter Monday. God would have but a spotless, blemish free, sacrifice for our sin. And as I was telling my Bible study class, Jesus was the only sacrifice that God would except. This had been God's planned from the foundations of the earth.

Jesus knew as He walked in the garden to pray what would happen to Him. From His arrest, His betrayal by Judas. From standing in front of the people to hear them shout crucify Him. And the long hours of brutal beatings, that ripped the flesh from His body until the ribs in His back were showing. He knew before it was ever given, every stripe. And as He was taking those flest ripping stripes on His back. He was looking at each and every one of us and saying in His heart to us. By these stripes you are healed. Yes a healing for our very souls. Jesus knew as He walked down the road to the cross, the name of each person the were shouting and cursing and yes even spitting on Him. He knew even before it happen how the nails would feel that were hammered into His hands and feet. And with each lunge with the hammer, still looking at us He said in His heart still, this is for you, My beloved. I can't ever imagine the even greater pain as the cross was lifted and His already battered back rubbed against the wood on that cross and wood splinters dug their way into His back tearing at an already bloody raw flesh. And as He hung there, pain surging through every part of His now frail body. If all that had happen was not bad enough, Then my friend, He went through the most awful pain of all. He hung there as one right after another, of our sins were put upon Him. waves and waves and waves of agonizing torment, as He took on to Himself our sins, He did it without uttering a word of complaint. Our sin was so ugly that even God the Father had to turn away. The Heavenly Father as great and awesome as He is could not look upon such evil being pounded upon His only Son. What we should have suffered ourselves. Yes each and everyone of us should have been on that cross instead, suffering that fate, instead Jesus took it for us. He loved us more that we ourselves ever know how to love.
Now last, He was put in a tomb, but He didn't stay there. He rose from death, into everlasting life. And because He won the battle and stepped on that serpents head. He won over death and hell.
We as followers of Christ Jesus, now have won this battle too. Through Jesus Christ, and only through Jesus Christ have we won the victory, over satan, over death. Into eternal life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To be with Him when we leave these bodies. Out of the body is present with Christ.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank you Christ Jesus.

God bless, and a blessed Easter to each and every one of you.
