What the wind blows in.

Have you ever watched as the big winds with weather fronts tears at the country side, ripping whole trees to shreds. I remember setting at the back screen door when Hazel came through, watching as the trees bent to their breaking point. Watching as all kinds of debris flew by, as if being swept from the face of the earth by God's own hand.

With the winds came destruction of many homes and businesses. The storm not only changed the land scrap, it changed people lives. The wind blew in fortitude in some people, ready to make a come back. But it blew in weaknesses in others. Self pity took hold of many, and they just gave up. Sold their lands and moved into nearby towns and went to work in whatever job they would find. My Granddaddy Autry showed strength. He cleaned up his farm and worked long and hard hours to get things back to almost where they were before the storm. My tiny little Grandmother working right by his side. He never to my knowledge, asked anyone to help. It was He, God and my Grandmother against to storms of life. He lived that way all his life.

I wish we had people like that now. It use to be a person had pride in the way they lived their life. Now sadly, you only see prideful people with none of the God given strengths.

We've lost something in the years since then. I don't have a name for what we've lost because there are many names for it. But what we have lost most in this country, are dedicated Christians, serving the Lord, with strong faith and strength in character.

Sadly now...........

The wind of Godlessness now blows strong. very strong.

Our mouths, our own enemies

Our lesson in chapter one of second Samuel, Wednesday, at the nursing home, sparked conversations of our mouths and how they can get us in a lot of trouble. Our mouths are really our enemy that we carry around twenty four seven.

The unnamed man in this chapter, told lies to impress David. But those lies cost him his life. He, as we often don't, did not control his mouth. As did his, our mouths often give a hint of what's in our hearts.

Our mouths can cause others harm. It only takes a few words to destroy. A little gossip goes a long way in shattering a life.

Isn't it sad that we use this feature on our faces to tear and rip up people. We could just as well use it to lift them up.

As James 3:10 instructs us, Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be so.

The same mouth we use to praise God, is the same mouth we do the devil's work with.

This is just a reminder to myself and to others, we really must keep a guard on our mouths and think before we speak.

Grocery store policy, just not right

OK, It's been a great while since I've been on my blog. Lazy is the only excuse I have. And too, I wonder at times if anyone wants to read it anyway. But it's still a good way for me to vent my views and opinions. And vent my views is just what I'll do today. I have noticed in grocery stores lately that when a product is on sale, that the sale item is somewhere to the back and a higher priced item is where the sale price item should be, as far as the location of the sign. It's my opinion that the grocery store management is counting on people either not paying enough attention, are hoping that the person can't read well enough to read that the product at the sale sign, is not the product on sale. This irritates me so much. Willard and I can read and understand what they have done and choose the correct item, buried somewhere way behind the much higher priced item. But there are many that can't read well, that will assume the price and the sale item are together. And older folks that can't see that well, etc,etc. These are the kinds of people that are hit hardest by this slyness of our retailers. The one with little education, who have families to raise on what little money they bring into their homes. Or the older folks out there who live on fixed incomes. I wish each and every person who would read this would voice your objections to this kind of practice in our retail stores.

Incourage someone today.

It's been a few days now since I've posted anything. I've been doing other things. I quilted a quilt for one thing. No, I didn't hand quilt it, I did it on the sewing machine. I'm keeping it for myself. I'm not giving any more away like I did in the past. Not to brag, but my guess would be, close to two hundred quilts and lap quilts, that I have made and given away. The one I get the most joy from is the one I gave to David at the nursing home. David has mentioned that quilt many times to me. It makes me feel so good to know that someone really is enjoying something that I did for them.

I think each of us are the same, we just want to be recognized every once in a while. I guess it's because we want to know that we are important in some respects, and that we have done something good for humanity. So I'll tell you all something to do today. Go out of your way to let someone know that they are important. Let them know that you appreciate them. For whom they are or for something they've done for you, or for someone else.

David got a job

Well, after months of worry about David being unemployed, and Willard and I having to help him out financially, He finally has a job. First of all I want to thank God for helping us all through all the trails and troubles that we have been going through, the last few months. If it hadn't been for us having that faith, we would have never made it and still be intact as a family. Each of you know that when troubles come calling, that it puts a real strain on family relations. But through prayer and a lot of forgiveness on each of our parts we all made it through. I'm not saying that things are still not trying, with Willard still out of work, and missing two unemployment checks, etc. Things are tight around here. But we know that through the grace of God that we are going to do great.

Our troubles, compared to others, such as the people in Haiti, are nothing. In the big scheme of things we are doing very well. You know, any time you can lay your head down on a pillar at night and thank the good Lord above that your family are all well, your belly has been fed, and you are warm and safe. Well I think we all should count our blessings.

I read post on Facebook, and lots of times there are people grumbling over the smallest things, and I feel like saying something to them. But I don't think it would do any good. Some people are just grumblers, and there's no stopping them.

I just think the Lord that where ever I am, I am happy. He has given me a joy that no one can take from me.

Until next time God bless, and remember, even though people care about your troubles, and sympathise with you, doesn't mean that they want to hear about ever little hiccup in your life. So stop grumbling about every little thing. Do some praising of the Lord instead. You'd be amazed at how that will help.

Indifference

Just as the Israelites were indifferent so many times to God's law. I think that many of us are today also indifferent to the same laws as they were. Just because we are not under the law, dose not mean that we are not to obey God's law. For example

ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.' We all have things that occupy our time, such as TV, PCs and many sports that we play such as golf, etc. We must be very careful that these things do not come before God. Many times they indeed do. It takes our minds off our prayer life, and we stop listening to hear the tender voice of God as He tries to speak to us.

TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.' We are a civilization that have all kind of nik,naks, sitting in our homes, in our offices, etc. Angel fingerings set in most of our homes. Crosses hand on walls, necks and even are tattooed into people's flesh. We most be careful that we serve the Lord and not these representations of Heavenly beings.

THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.' There's not many days that go by that I don't hear some one taking our God's name in vain. We must be careful of these mouth's of ours to only honor the name of God.

FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.' We are suppose rest on the seventh day, only in an emergency are we to do any work. I see farmers working in their fields in the summertime most every Sunday morning. Whether or not, it's an urgent matter to work their fields on Sunday, I couldn't say. But we must be very careful to give God his day.

FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.' I think we all see disrespect from our younger generation more and more. We must teach our children to respect us and others.

SIX: 'You shall not murder.' Our prisons are over crowded with persons that have murdered others. For all different reasons, a society with no morals nor conscience.

SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.' More than fifty percent of marries end each year because of a mate committing an act of betrayal.

EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.' At one time people were not in the lease afraid to leave their doors unlocked, But in today's world, it would be very foolish to do so. There are all kinds of thieves, from those that enter into your home and take things, to those that go on the Internet to rob others of their very identity. If it can be stole, some one has figured out how to steal it.

NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.' It's not ever funny how many people there are that tell one lie after the other. reasons from trying to get out of trouble to just wanting to boost their e-goes. I would not feel uneasy to say that ninety percent of Americans lie on a daily basic.

TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.' We all know the saying keeping up with the Jones. We have a tendency to want any and all of what others have, we feel left out if we don't. If Mr. Jones has a boat we feel that we too must have one. Jealously we keep watch on our neighbors property to make sure that we keep up.

So friends, as you can see. We are no better that the Israelites in disobeying God. The only difference is that we have Jesus Christ, Who died so that all our sins may be forgiven, when we repent, and except Him as LORD and SAVIOR
