My friend Francis 's husband, Roy, has really been through something in the last few weeks. It all started with finding cancer in his kidney. They removed the kidney, and sent him home to recuperate. Well, Roy wasn't getting much better. In fact he had a heart attack, and was taken to the hospital. While in the unit, Roy had a appendicitis attack. While first going in laparoscopicly to remove the appendix, the doctor found cancer in Roy's intestines. They had to cut him open to remove the cancer. Which due to his just having a heart attack, made the procedure even more dangerous.
Needless to say, each day that I spoke to Francis, and things seem to be getting worse and worse as Roy's stay in the hospital was really a test of survival, and a test of faith. At times, Francis's voice seemed hopeless as one thing after another developed.
I wanted to do something to help her in any way I could. But there was nothing I could do except pray. And be with her if only in heart. I believe with all my heart that my prayer, and those of many others were heard. It's a miracle to me, that an 81-year-old man could go through so much and still survive.
Roy is doing well. I received a call from Francis this morning. She was so excited. Although Roy is weak from all that he's been through, the Dr. said he is doing very well. Plus, there was no cancer found in Roy's lymph nodes. What wonderful news this is.
I know that it will take some time to regain his strength, but God is on his side.
Francis has been such a good friend to me. Even with everything that's going on with Roy, she always asks how I'm doing. Francis has always called me, even before Roy's troubles to find out how I'm doing, and ask if I need anything. She's been a real good friend to me and I love her.
You know, sometimes in this life we meet people and they claim to be our friends. I found out a few years ago,'' who''my real friends were. Those so-called friends, have disappeared and no longer heard from. But you know what, the loss is theirs.
I hope each of you will continue to pray for Francis and Roy.
And while you're at it, pray for this country of ours. Pray that the right candidate gets in office. On the County, state and federal levels. We need a leader in this time of world wide disruption that will lead our nation back to God. One that is not afraid to utter the name of Jesus. We need a God fearing, Jesus following born-again Christian person. We need a person to put that anti-prayer, anti-religion group, ''I think you know who I mean'', in their place and shut them up.
Until next time my friends, God bless and God save.
