I wrote something approximately 12 years ago, and found it in the bottom of a drawer today while I was looking for something else. As I sat reading it, I thought" it is so relevant no matter whether it was 12 years ago, or yesterday.
Am I up to the challenge?
One day while watching my son play a videogame, I noticed that he would set the game on easy play. And that he would always win. So I asked him why he didn't set it on normal so it would be more challenging. His answer was," then I might lose".
This got me thinking, do we as Christians have our control set on easy? Do we take the easy path? Do we just do things, we know can be done easily? Do we hinder God from working in our lives, because we are afraid that we may fail? Not very long ago I witnessed a woman working with a youth group in summer vacation Bible school. It was the last Sunday, and all the classes got up to tell what they had learned. I don't remember even what she was doing, or what she was saying. I only remember how bad her hands were shaking. As she stood talking I had so much adoration for her. Even though she was scared, she made herself stand before an audience, and do what she needed to do. And I believe God will bless her tremendously for it.
Even as babies, when we take our first steps we often fall, we often fail to take those first few steps without falling. But we always got back up and tried again. Considering the vast wisdom of God, aren't we all still babies in Christ Jesus? If we try and we fail, won't Jesus help us back up? Won't he hold our hands so we can take those first few steps in our endeavors?
I only hope when I am challenged to do God's work, that I stand the test. Not caring whether I may fall, not caring that I may fail. Not caring what others may say or do. Having complete faith in the Lord. Knowing that he will take care of me. Jesus accepted his challenge and saved the souls of all who would receive him as Lord and Savior. Can we accept our challenges? God has already provided us with the strength we need, all we need do, is find it. Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. A Psalms 38:9 All my longings lie open before you, O Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you.
Until next time, God bless and God save.
