I know that some people don't believe that who you hang out with, and who you choose as friends has anything to do with the events in their own life , but it does. Many people in the Bible chose the wrong person or nation to make deals with. We see in 1Kings Chapter 22, where Jehoshaphat who was king of Judah, made an alliance with Ahab, King of Israel. This was like making a deal with the devil himself. Ahab was one of the most evil people in the old testament. He worshiped Idols, and had many prophets of the god Asherah. Jehoshaphat made an alliance with him to go fight for Ramoth-gilead, a city of refuge on the east of Jordan. Which was then in the hands of Ben-hadad, king of Syria. Jehoshaphat made a real bad decision when he did this. I hope you will go read the story.
We often have friends that are not Christians, and we seem to think we have to do what they do to keep the friendship. But often we need to let these friendships go, if they are interfering with our walk with the Lord.
Before Willard was saved, he would go to parties with his co-workers on special occasions, such as Christmas and Thanksgiving. These parties would be in different places and sometimes even in bars. But after Willard became a Christian he stopped attending these parties with all the drinking, etc. Willard also stopped hanging around with the men that cursed and carried on, not so righteous conversations. Willard set himself apart. And that's what Jesus Christ expects from all His followers. We have to live in this world, and we have to put up with it's evils. But we don't have to be part of it.
Don't let your non Christian friends draw you into their world. We as Christians should be trying to change the world, not conform to it.
Until next time God bless, and why don't you mention Jesus to someone today?
