Listening to the right one.

We had a very good lesson at the nursing home this morning. The material we were reading, had two examples of the same thing. Who to listen to. Our first person was Rehoboam, Solomon's son. After he took Solomon, his father's place as king, the people came to him and wanted him to make things easier for them than Solomon his father. First, Rehoboam asked the older men with wisdom. They instructed Rehoboam that if he did so, that the people would love him the more and serve him. Then Rehoboam went to the men of his own age and asked. The younger men gave the very opposite advice. In fact they instructed him to make things much worse, which he did. Instead of taking advice from the older, wiser men, Rehoboam played the fool, and listened to the wrong advice. Even though Solomon was a wise man, he had a foolish son. This led to the kingdom being divided and ripped from him, as prophecy had already foretold. He was left with only the tribes of Judah and Benjamin. And these only so that God's promise to David would still be fulfilled.

The next lesson in listening to the right person, was told with two men that are unnamed. A man of God was sent with a message to Jerhoboam. Now Jerhoboam had made two gold calf's and built high places and had a calf put in each place. God sent someone to give a message to him. The message is a prophecy, that you really should read. But for now we want to talk about God's instructions to the man, not to eat, drink anything in the place and not to even go out the same way he came in. Well when offered these things the first time, the man refused. But when he met up with another man who lied and told him that God gave him a message that the man of God should turn aside and go eat and drink with him, the man did so without question. which ended in his death. God had told the man not to stop and eat, etc. and if God had wanted to change His mind He Himself would have told the Man. A good friend of mine, Frances, made the statement that the same thing happened in the garden of Eden. After God had told Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree. Old satan comes and tells them a different story. Satan lied just as the man in 1st Kings lied. The punishment was given to the man who disobeyed God, and not to the lying man. We must know what God's word tells us. It's what God has left us to receive instruction from Him. There are people that are trying to change the Bible "the word of God'' and it's truths. We must remember to trust that if God wants us to believe anything else, He will tell us Him self. So until Jesus Christ comes and takes me home. The Bible, the true word of God is what instructions I will follow.

until next time God bless. and why don't you pick up the manual of instructions God has given us, The Holy Bible.
