Back seventy five and eighty years ago it was easier to be a Christian. It was easy to have neighbors and friends that were Christians, because just about everyone else was a Christian. They didn't have the temptations around as much as the world has today. They didn't have all the technology, to draw them away from reading the Bible or going to Church service. Back then on Sunday morning there were, Sunday school and worship service, and Sunday night service. And there was always Wednesday night prayer meeting, which lasted a couple of hours. Now we have Sunday school and service, and Wednesday Bible study. There is no more preaching on Wednesday night, it's mostly just Bible study. And of course now, they use one Wednesday every quarter, for their business meetings. Sunday night services have disappeared from most churches. People just found other things that they rather do.
Back then, people could walk down the road or sidewalk of their neighborhood, not even worrying about locking their doors, to visit other neighbors. They didn't have to worry about being robbed, being shot at by a drive by shooter, hearing a small child be beaten and cursed at by drunk or high on drugs parents. They didn't have to worry about their identity being stolen, because just like everyone else they had nothing in the banks to steal. I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. What a mess we have made of God's creation and what a mess we, that are His creation have become. What a mess indeed! The water tower stands as a reminder of time long passed. One has to wonder, have we really made things better?
Until next time God bless. And remember this. As long as there are people that love the Lord, there is still hope.
1peter 1:21
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and HOPE might be in God.
